If there’s one thing that comes to mind when you hear about the game developer Bungie, it’s got to be the mega-hit franchise Halo. After the company split from Microsoft in 2008, it is now completing its departure from the franchise: the online portal Bungie.net is going to stop updating its vast array of Halo player stats come March 31st. Microsoft’s internal Halo-focused development studio, 343 Industries, will pick up the slack with its Halo Waypoint service. Meanwhile, Bungie says that it will “preserve all existing historical Halo data on Bungie.net for as long as the Internet and Bungie’s data storage systems remain functional.”
