Never say never. I know, but I’m not sure if Apple’s ninth-gen iPad is going to get any cheaper than this before it’s outright gone. That’s because, after dropping to consecutive all-time lows of $229 and then $224, the tablet from 2021 with 64GB of storage is now selling for just $199 ($130 off) at Amazon and $199.99 at Best Buy. The 256GB configuration is also $130 off at Best Buy.

There’s really only so much to say about this long-running iPad that Apple finally dropped from its lineup earlier this year (and simultaneously gave the newer 10th-gen model a much-needed price cut, slotting it in at the entry-level position). The ninth-gen iPad is the last bastion of the headphone jack and the Touch ID home button for the iPad line. Its 10.2-inch screen isn’t amazing, but the aging A13 Bionic chip is still plenty fast, more than enough for a kid who wants to watch Bluey.

Apple’s entry-level iPad from 2021 has a 10.2-inch screen, an A13 Bionic chip, and a 12MP front camera that supports Apple’s Center Stage feature. It’s also compatible with the first-gen Apple Pencil and the company’s smart keyboard. Although it’s discontinued, it’s the only iPad you can still buy with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

  • Through September 30th, Apple is offering digital gift cards valued at up to $150 when you purchase a Mac or iPad through its education store for students. The program’s discounted prices often pale in comparison to regular deals you find at retailers, but the added gift card helps balance the scales or, in some instances, tip them slightly in Apple’s favor. For example, Apple’s student discount of $999 ($100 off) with a $150 gift card on the base 13-inch M3 MacBook Air matches Amazon’s price of $849 ($250 off), but the new M2 iPad Air for $549 ($50 off) with a $100 gift card from Apple is a better deal than anywhere else right now.
  • The 46mm OnePlus Watch 2 in silver or black steel is on sale for $249.99 ($50 off) directly from OnePlus, with a free add-on strap in leather ($39.99 value) or rubber ($29.99 value). The Android-only smartwatch is a good alternative to Samsung and Google Pixel options, with a battery that can last up to two days using the always-on display or longer in other power modes — but it lacks an LTE option, if that’s a deal-breaker for you. Read our review.
  • Sony’s WH-CH520 headphones in black are selling for a dirt-cheap $36.95 (about $21 off) when you add them to your cart at Amazon. The wireless on-ear headphones don’t have noise cancellation, but they cover the basics for a very good value and claim up to 50 hours of battery life.
