Malware and ice cream: the story of a Chinese government hacker

There has been a wave of cyber attacks on the United States stemming from China, but much about China’s military hacking efforts is still unknown. Now, the discovery of a military hacker’s blog has given researchers a portrait of what life was like for one man employed to write malware at an office in Shanghai. The hacker describes a program he created that managed to avoid detection by major security software like McAfee, but that in spite of his success he was dissatisfied with the job. The Los Angeles Times reports on the 625 blog entries that the man wrote during his three years employed as a government hacker.
