I saw a vague trailer for Knock at The Cabin in theaters a couple months ago and it was scary enough, but the latest trailer adds enough context from the story to amplify the horror substantially. Honestly, though, I’m posting this because we spent a while in Verge chat today talking about how much we stan Dave Bautista.

On Wednesday, BleepingComputer reported Okta had been sending a “confidential” security incident notification to partners, and now the company has confirmed someone stole data from GitHub repositories for the Okta Workforce Identity Cloud (WIC) product in early December.
In a statement on its website, Okta said it had alerted law enforcement, and:
Our investigation concluded that there was no unauthorized access to the Okta service, and no unauthorized access to customer data. Okta does not rely on the confidentiality of its source code for the security of its services. The Okta service remains fully operational and secure.

Devon Palmer is hands-down one of the funniest people on TikTok and his latest skit speaks to my soul about quantified health. Enjoy your step counters, I’ll be counting pebbles.
Many of my colleagues in the industry are now quitting Twitter for some of the same reasons I did. And honestly — Elon hasn’t changed much. It has been a hive of scum and villainy for many years. I won’t say “I told you so” — I’ll just be glad for anyone who escapes its clutches.
Why I left
Here’s a thing about me: I was once a huge EverQuest nerd. If you were too, you should know that there’s still a vibrant community of players who have created their own classic experience in a private server. If you were a former player who needs family at this time of year, I suggest you check it out.

Mini Motorways is a charming game about building traffic grids until they inevitably break and everyone in town is unhappy with you. (Boo, cars.) I always found it both relaxing and stressful — until a recent update removed the stress by letting you keep playing after “Game Over.” I am really loving this trend in game design that lets people play things at their own pace.
10-percent boos? Well, that’s now a weighty 10-percent, Elon.
The movies are changed forever. I’ll never look at this logo opener in theaters the same way again.
A lot of people are saying you will look very nice wearing a Verge shirt.
Fox News confronted Apple CEO Tim Cook in the halls of Congress, asking him leading questions that nonetheless arguably ought to be answered. That said — don’t let spin confuse you; reporters often stalk the halls of Congressional office buildings looking for answers and don’t receive them from actual members of Congress. There’s no way Cook would have stopped to talk to anyone in this setting,
Good news for people who love awkward situations: Netflix has confirmed the start of production for season 3 of I Think You Should Leave. We don’t normally cover this kind of incremental update in the world of film and television, but it’s a big deal for a bunch of Verge staff. If there’s one thing we endorse it’s Netflix giving Tim Robinson a blank check.
While The Verge’s deals team has namely focused on covering video game deals this past week, our friends over at Polygon have been assembling a nice selection of the analog variety. There are a lot of board games still on sale right now, too, from tabletop classics like 7 Wonders to deep role-playing titles like Gloomhaven.
The clock is ticking if you’re looking for streaming service deals. Both new and returning customers are eligible, but be aware the deal ends today.

Every day on Twitch, modded versions of GTA V power an unprecedented storytelling platform for live, unscripted shows that are often watched by hundreds of thousands of people simultaneously. For all of the billions spent on the metaverse, a nearly 10-year-old video game is proving to be a far more interesting story about coming together online.

Instant cameras are popular holiday gifts, but I’ve found many print awful photos and are difficult to set up. Fujifilm’s Instax Mini 11 is great, though, because it’s easy to use and takes relatively true-to-life shots. Right now, you can pick it up for $59.99 ($17 off) at Target and Best Buy.

Unless you’re someone who absolutely needs to appear in the mentions of an official Twitter user. But even then, you really need to have something useful to say — a one-time troll isn’t going to give you much value. Elon Musk still hasn’t articulated why paying for Twitter will bring the average person value, and at $8 a month, he’s competing with streaming services that offer much more than a cosmetic blue checkmark.
Fender’s Mustang Micro headphone guitar amplifier is $89.99 ($30 off) at Amazon. It’s great for jamming out without disturbing neighbors or roommates, and it makes a great gift — which is why we recommend it in our Holiday Gift Guide for Dads.

All except Sony, which is still listing digital copies for $40 or more. Hopefully, PS5 owners will soon have a chance to score a bargain, but it hasn’t happened so far on Black Friday.

8BitDo’s Pro 2 Bluetooth controller for the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android is on an Amazon lightning deal for $39.99 ($10 off) right now — and it will probably sell out. As they say, put your mask on first before helping others and treat yourself before blowing your budget on gifts.
Macrumors has thrown the appropriate amount of cold water on tabloid whispers that Apple was toying with buying Manchester United. That said, it’s easy to picture Tim Cook giving a folksy Ted Lasso-style speech in the locker room.
