Google has announced that, effective immediately, it is bringing back games to the Android Market in South Korea. The decision follows Apple's re-introduction earlier this month and comes because the country has changed its policy regarding apps. Until recently, the South Korean government required that all games be vetted by the "Game Rating Board," a requirement that prompted Apple and Google to remove the games category from their respective app stores. The board will presumably still want to rate games like Duke Nukem 3D, but it's no longer a pre-requirement to sell in South Korea.

Now that the policy has changed, Google is encouraging developers to tick off the “South Korea” box when submitting games as well as localize their apps as necessary. Google claims that “Korea is now the second-largest consumer of apps worldwide,” so there’s plenty of incentive for developers to do both.
