Curve 9350, 9360, 9370 announced with BlackBerry OS 7

RIM has announced three new BlackBerrys: the Curve 9350, Curve 9360, and Curve 9370. Each brings BlackBerry OS 7 to lower-end handsets that will presumably not be priced too high for the market. The three phones will be available in Canada this month and “selected countries around the world” in September. The specs on the phones are virtually identical, including a relatively slim .43-inch depth, 5-megapixel camera, 512MB of RAM, an 800MHz processor, NFC, and a smallish 2.44-inch 480 x 360 display. As for the differences, let’s break them down:

• The Curve 9370 is the high-end of the bunch, with CDMA/EVDO and Quad-Band EDGE support and 1GB of storage
• The Curve 9360 is the GSM variant, offering Tri-Band UMTS and Quad-Band EDGE. Storage on this unit is 512MB
• The Curve 9350 is the CDMA variant, with 512MB of RAM

Of course, the most important new feature on all of them is BlackBerry 7 and its slick new web browser. We’ve seen the OS perform fairly well for a BlackBerry in our Bold 9900 review (albeit with 768MB of RAM to work with). However, it’s that “for a BlackBerry” that’s the rub here, isn’t it? Still, assuming they’re priced right, they’ll do well in RIM’s expanding low-end markets and may keep BBM-addicts in the fold.
