Owners of the GSM Galaxy Nexus should check their handsets — an update to Android 4.1.2 should be rolling out over-the-air any time now. Several tipsters have written in to let us know their phones have been updated and we’ve verified with our own devices, as well. This release isn’t a huge surprise, given that the Nexus 7 received the same update just last week. Unfortunately, the only new user-facing feature for the Nexus 7 was landscape mode on the home screen — a feature that apparently has not made its way over to the GSM Galaxy Nexus. Still, bug fixes are generally a good thing and some are claiming that the performance is even more “buttery” than before. Start checking your phone now if your’e interested, but only if you’re not using a Verizon or Sprint model — those customers will have to wait for this small update.

Update: A few of our intrepid commenters have discovered that expandable notifications can now be opened up with a single-finger scroll, as opposed to the two-finger scroll that was previously required. We’ve also heard from a few tipsters that the GSM Nexus S has also received this software update, and we’re checking ourselves now to verify.
