Redbox has been on a tear lately, announcing a streaming video partnership with Verizon and picking up some 9,000 new rental kiosks in a recent acquisition. Now it’s looking to get gamers more acquainted with its service, offering a free rental day for titles on the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360. Customers can reserve one of the 30 titles — Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and The Darkness II among them — and pick the game up at their local kiosk, free of charge. Of course, Redbox’s normal $2 a day rental fee will kick in after that, but it’s a great way to get a quick taste of a game that’s been on your shortlist. Unfortunately the discount comes only with reservations through Redbox’s website — its mobile apps won’t do — so if you want to take advantage of the deal before it expires on March 1st, you know where to go.
