If you’re already feeling nostalgic for the recently decommissioned space shuttle program, try reliving the glory with this amazing video taken from cameras aboard its Solid Rocket Booster system. The 8-minute video is part of NASA’s Ascent: Commemorating Space Shuttle documentary, and has had the audio remastered by Skywalker Sound. This clip could almost be a movie in itself, though, with the fiery opening on the launchpad, calm middle section floating above the Earth, violent reentry to the atmosphere, and eventual watery demise. It’s worth watching from start to finish to get a first-hand look at just one small part in one of humanity’s greatest achievements — make sure to turn up the sound.
