Just a couple weeks ago Sony announced the US availability of unlocked Xperia S, Xperia P, and Xperia Sola models. Today, the Xperia U — a less expensive and lower-end model — will join its brethren. The phone has a 3.5-inch display, a 5-megapixel camera, and 1GHz dual-core processor running Android 2.3, but will receive an update to 4.0 sometime “later in Q3” according to Sony’s Mobile Blog. The other Xperia models are currently available from the Sony store and Newegg; we’re not seeing the Xperia U on Newegg yet, but it’s available now from the Sony store for $299.99.
