After a year of ups and downs, Top Gear is finally returning to the airwaves. The show will premiere in the UK and 50 other countries on Sunday May 29th, and in the US on BBC America on Monday, May 30th.
Top Gear returns to the BBC with new hosts on May 29th
The show will be co-hosted by Chris Evans, a well-known radio host and car nut in Britain, who will be less familiar to American audiences. Joining him is former Friends star Matt LeBlanc — a gearhead in his own right — along with German racing driver Sabine Schmitz, car journalists Chris Harris and Rory Reid, and, of course, The Stig.
There will also be a new after show called Extra Gear that will air immediately following the main show. It will include new footage, interviews, and other behind-the-scenes stuff from the show.
The news comes the same day as the old Top Gear crew — Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond — announce that their competing show on Amazon will be called The Grand Tour.
