And maybe a few surprises, too

Google’s annual developer keynote is here and thanks to a lot of leaks, we have a fairly good idea of what to expect. Most notably, Google appears to be ready to announce hardware at Google I/O, something it usually doesn’t do. The most important hardware will likely be the Pixel 3A and 3A XL. They have been seen so much it’s a wonder they’re not already in stores — except wait, they have popped up in a Best Buy.

Another device has also leaked, something called the Nest Hub Max, which is probably a bigger version of the Google Home Hub smart display. Google will also surely spend a ton of time talking about Android 10 Q. Last year at Google I/O, it released a feature-rich version of the Android 9 P beta, so it seems safe to assume there will be a new Q beta this year.

What else? Some surprises, we bet. Last year had a stunning demo of Google Duplex — and after the internet finished being stunned it started wondering about the ethics of robots calling humans. Just like every other tech company, Google is under a microscope for how it handles user data and whether it’s become too big. Perhaps CEO Sundar Pichai will broach those subjects onstage, too.
