Unsurprisingly, while there has been an incredible outpouring of support following Dolly’s passing, there have also been a lot of people trying to exploit it. Stella Parton has finally had enough of the “insensitivity from strangers,” which she said has “been challenging to absorb and or ignore.”

TikTok user CatJacks created an app for Apple’s headset that allows him to see through walls. When he’s running cable in a house, he’ll peek in the attic, mark where the studs are, then come around the other side and be able to see them and the cavity in 3D.
Following the standalone Magic Drawing Pad from 2024, XP-Pen is now launching the Android 16-based Magic Pro 13 next month to tempt creatives away from sketching on iPads. The price hasn’t been announced yet, but it features a 3096 x 2064 resolution LCD display, with 100 percent sRGB coverage, 650-nit brightness, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
Amazon has reportedly canceled Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Man detective series that premiered on Prime Video and MGM Plus earlier this year, according to TheWrap. The report adds that Sony and Amazon “will continue collaborating” on more Marvel projects, and “have already identified the next chapter of the franchise.”
Kotaku reports that players have been competing to top CS2 Tracker’s “Slurs Tracking” charts, which record tracked words in players’ chat logs. Players at the top of the charts have used offensive language in Counter-Strike 2 over 10,000 times.
Following its season three finale this week, Apple released a teaser for Silo’s fourth season, premiering in less than a year — but watch out for spoilers if you haven’t seen this week’s episode yet.
A software update for Remarkable’s E Ink tablets introduces a new tool that can capture images of on-screen content by drawing a circle, or any shape, around what you want. The captures can be imported into your notebooks and repositioned, resized, and rotated as needed. The update also introduces improved formatting options for EPUB files and new pen stroke colors.

HP is adding to the impending deluge of RTX Spark computers due in October with the OmniBook X 14, OmniBook Ultra 16, and the small form factor OmniDesk. My colleague Dom saw the Ultra among other Nvidia-powered laptops at IFA, but we still don’t know any prices.
Considering HP’s specs show both OmniBooks will start with 32GB of unified memory and 1TB of storage, signs point to them being expensive.

Only one of them switched on, and apparently it wasn’t even meant to, so I’ve got no deep performance insights about the first laptops powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip. But Dell, Lenovo, MSI, Asus, HP, and Microsoft are all on board with hardware already — hopefully we’ll get the details on them all before too long.
As reported by Wired, more than 200 US-based workers at the Wikimedia Foundation, which hosts Wikipedia, will join Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 9415 after management declined to voluntarily recognize the union in July.
Organizing committee member Bryan Davis called it a “huge milestone” and said:
We continue our petition for recognition in the U.K. and hope to see more jurisdiction-specific units call for voluntary recognition in the coming weeks and months. Solidarity will continue to drive our discussions, planning, and actions as we begin working on our collective goals for contract bargaining to support all WMF workers regardless of legal jurisdiction, job duty, or hours of employment.
Developer Benjamin Stark (ZodTTD) has been making emulators for iOS since long before Apple officially allowed them in its app store. Following their well-featured Gamma PS1 emulator comes Psimulator that plays Dreamcast games with features like cloud syncing, Bluetooth controller support, and a skin designer right within the $4.99 app.
That seems to be the pitch behind OpenAI’s promo reel for the new AI model, putting people on a set to talk at their computer about doing things like putting together a presentation for their next season of fashion designs with instructions like “make it high end” and “make it fun,” or creating an eBay listing for a dented table they want to sell.
Welcome to the AGI era?
More than three years after Tate and his brother were arrested and indicted in Romania on charges of human trafficking, Reuters reports the DIICOT prosecuting unit has indicted Tate again. They’ve charged Tate for “trafficking minors, money laundering, sex with a minor and witness tampering and his brother Tristan for complicity.”
Both Tates were arrested in Miami in July after British authorities requested their extradition, and they are currently in jail in the US.

Double-decker robovacs, a smartphone that eliminates the screen bezel, and another laptop with an expanding screen.

Ahead of Apple’s September 9th launch event, Gurman compiled everything he’s heard so far about the company’s upcoming devices, which could include a foldable “iPhone Ultra,” a touchscreen MacBook, AirPods with cameras, and a redesign for the Apple Watch.

The flagship Deebot X12S Omnicyclone comes with a “FocusJet” that sprays cleaning solution on dried-on stains before scrubbing, and a dust-mite chamber that pushes down into the pile to create a seal while vacuuming. There’s also a privacy shield to cover the robovac’s built-in camera.
The Deebot X12S Omnicyclone is now available in the US for $1,299.99.

Every dollar you spend on the site today goes straight to the artist, as is tradition. I’ll be celebrating by picking up the new Chat Pile record, Who Loves the Sun, another blast of noise-soaked existential dread from the Oklahoma City quartet. Let me know what you’re snagging in the comments.
The Explorer 2000 Plus v2 packs a 2kWh LFP battery and features a Storm Warning Function to automatically pre-charge ahead of severe weather, and an emergency reserve mode to ensure there’s always power available in case of disaster. It supports 800W of maximum solar input, 3600W of AC output, and up to 12kWh of battery expansion capacity. It launches on September 29th for $1,199, alongside a few other Jackery x Red Cross models. More specs in the pics that follow.
The Nurovi range features a robot mop with spinning pads, a vacuum-only option, and an upgraded version of its Spot+Scrub AI, which adds UV detection and comes in white. Nurovi supposedly stands for “neural intelligence” combined with a camera-based vision system, which makes the robots better at navigation than prior models — based on limited demos I saw at IFA in Berlin. All three robots go on sale this month.

Meta is back to adding AI labels on original photos, while not tagging AI images it should.
The update is rolling out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US over the next few weeks. When it arrives, Spark users can ask the AI agent to automatically search, organize, and curate photos and videos, and extract information from them to use elsewhere.
The wireless OMVI 2i Ultra camera also has a built-in 6W solar panel that can keep the camera charged in 30 minutes of daily sunlight. It comes with an 8-megapixel wide-view camera that offers a fixed view of your yard, while a 5-megapixel pan-tilt camera can track and zoom in on activity.

And it’s not because of post-work cocktails. The Trump administration decided to mark 25 years of Xbox with a flagrant disregard for copyright. It would be funny, if not for the fact it’s all a promotion for a website full of mini games for deporting people.
