Signal doesn’t view RCS as competition.
About a week after announcing that Signal is removing SMS messaging from its app to make it clear what is and isn’t encrypted, Signal’s president Meredith Whittaker said on Decoder that the company doesn’t view RCS as competition.
The replacement for SMS does support encryption, but Whittaker says adding it to Signal isn’t on the roadmap.
