AMD’s new GPUs won’t use the controversial 12VHPWR connector.

AMD isn’t planning to follow Nvidia and use the new 12VHPWR power connector on its RDNA 3 GPUs. AMD’s Radeon chief, Scott Herkelman, confirmed its plans on Twitter. The new 12VHPWR connector shipped on Nvidia’s RTX 4090 cards. Nvidia is now investigating reports of power cables melting or burning, after reliability concerns around bending the cables or adapters.
