NBC’s new sports streaming service serves up your kid’s games instead of the NFL.
Netflix isn’t the only one with sports streaming news — NBC Sports has announced SportsEngine Play, which offers free live streams of youth and amateur sporting events.
The idea is that events can broadcast to the platform from a phone, a pro camera setup, or anything in between, which interested viewers can log in and watch for free. Paid $9.99 per month plans add access to replays, shareable highlights, and access to “premium” events.
Disclosure: Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, is also an investor in Vox Media, The Verge’s parent company.
