Steam to drop Windows 7 and 8 support in 2024.
Valve says it will no longer support Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating systems for Steam from January 1st, 2024. Steam relies on an embedded version of Chrome for some of its newest features, and Google start phasing out support for Windows 7 earlier this year. Future versions of Steam will also require Windows security features only found in Windows 10 and above. Less than 2 percent of Steam users run Windows 7 or Windows 8.
