Surprise! Survey says — people want their smart home devices to work together.
Apparently, 54% of smart home users in the US and Europe want any new product they buy to work with their existing devices. Shocking news. Mainly because the number is so small.
Why the industry still struggles with this basic problem is baffling, but at least the new smart home standard Matter is trying to solve it.
Z-Wave, the organization behind the survey, has a head start here as all Z-Wave products are backward compatible. But — and here’s the rub — as of right now Matter and Z-Wave still don’t work together.
