Apple assembled more than $7 billion worth of iPhones — almost 7 percent of its handsets — in India last year, underscoring the company’s ambitions to shift manufacturing away from China.
Later this year, Apple is even expected to attempt to manufacture its new flagship iPhone in India at the same time as China, in what Bloomberg notes would be a first for the company.
