MGM hackers claim it only took a 10-minute phone call to shut down its slot machines.
After finding an MGM employee on LinkedIn, the ALPHV ransomware group called the help desk and used social engineering tactics to bring down the casino and resorts chain in a matter of 10 minutes, according to malware tracker vx-underground.
MGM’s hotel booking, corporate email, and restaurant reservation systems still remain offline over two days after the attack, CNBC reports.
