Ward Christensen, co-creator of the first online bulletin board, has died.
Christensen was a computer scientist credited with creating the Computerized Bulletin Board System (CBBS) in 1978, which let users exchange information through a dial-up connection.
Although Christensen devised the CBBS to communicate with other members of his computer club, it helped lay the groundwork for social media platforms to come.
Christensen was 78.
