OpenAI’s custom GPT Store may have a spam problem.

This report from TechCrunch found several custom GPTs that go against OpenAI’s usage rules, including some that let users “chat” with copyrighted characters, impersonate public figures, and attempt to make content written by AI sound more human.

Any ChatGPT Plus subscriber can create a custom GPT and submit it to the GPT Store — no coding required. OpenAI tells TechCrunch that it uses “a combination of automated systems, human review and user reports” to find custom GPTs that may violate its rules, but TechCrunch’s findings suggest that may not be enough to stave off spammy submissions.
