The UK’s tech regulator is taking a new ‘pro-business’ approach.
Britain’s Labour government has reportedly intervened at the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to force out its chair. Former Amazon UK boss Doug Gurr has been named as the CMA’s interim chair, with government minister Jonathan Reynolds saying it wants regulators, including the CMA, “supercharging the economy with pro-business decisions that will drive prosperity and growth.” The CMA has battled Microsoft, Meta, Adobe, and even Amazon in recent years.
