Apple

Founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne, Apple is best known for making some of the world’s most ubiquitous consumer devices, software, and services: the iPhone, iPad, iMac and MacBook computers, Apple TV, Apple Watch, iOS, iCloud, iTunes, Apple Music, Apple Pay, and many more. Led by CEO Tim Cook since 2011, Apple is one of the largest technology companies in the world alongside Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Facebook.

Tim Cook’s trip to Capitol Hill.

As lawmakers consider a slate of bills focused on protecting children on the internet, Apple CEO Tim Cook had a closed-door meeting today to push for his preferred solutions, as reported by Bloomberg:

During a closed-door meeting with members of the committee, Cook urged lawmakers not to require app store operators to check documentation of users’ ages and instead rely on parents to provide the age of their child when creating a child’s account, according to a statement from Apple.

Google and Apple’s app stores have been listing dozens of apps from blacklisted companies.

As reported by the Washington Post, an investigation by the Tech Transparency Project found apps on both platforms that were owned by sanctioned organizations, including Russian banks and a Chinese paramilitary group.

Most of the apps have been taken down now, including at least 17 out of 18 on the Google Play Store and 35 out of 52 on the App Store.

Google Maps on iOS now automatically remembers where you parked.

The new feature was recently announced by Rio Akasaka, Google Maps’ senior product manager, as spotted by 9to5Google. You’ll need to first connect your iPhone to your car through USB, Bluetooth, or CarPlay, but when you’re done driving Google Maps will automatically save your vehicle’s location for 48 hours, or until you start driving again.

Apple hardware vp Johny Srouji reportedly tells staff “I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.”

After a string of exec departures from Apple, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported a few days ago that Srouji, who oversees the chips that have helped iPhones, Macs, and other devices lead their categories, had discussed leaving for another company.

Today, Gurman reports the exec sought to calm employees, sending a message to his division that said “I love my team, and I love my job at Apple, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.”

You’ll soon be able to work out with your favorite K-Pop music in Apple Fitness Plus.

It’s part of an expansion to Apple’s workout service coming on December 15th that will not only add K-Pop as an option in the workout music genres (the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack is probably a good choice), but it’s also bringing new digital dubs of Fitness Plus videos in Spanish, German, and Japanese.

Apple Fitness Plus will also be available in 28 new markets, including Chile, Hong Kong, India, the Netherlands, and more.
