Watch our Emmy Award-winning video about electric cargo bikes.

Last Saturday, The Verge won a New York Emmy Award for our 2025 video about how electric cargo bikes are reshaping cities. It won in the “Environment / Science” category, which is fitting since e-bikes are proven tools for combating climate change.

On a personal note, it was especially gratifying to win an Emmy for a video that featured the bike bus I helped start in my town in New Jersey. Kids should be able to bike safely with their friends to school! And electric cargo bikes help make that happen.

Nothing smart glasses rumor claims two different versions are on the way, including an audio-only model.

In a post spotted by Android Authority, leaker Roland Quandt says the audio-only version of Nothing’s rumored glasses won’t have cameras, similar to Meta’s new audio-only Ray-Bans. Quandt adds that Nothing’s glasses will also have “auto tinting photocromic lenses,” and says there will be a camera-equipped version with ChatGPT and translation features.

Asus’ new business laptop will have 8GB of RAM and be aimed at less business-y types.

Asus is announcing the ExpertBook A7: a 14-inch laptop with a 120Hz OLED display and an Intel Core 5 320 chip. It’s available today, starting at $1,299.99 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

But coming in the new year is an 8GB / 256GB version for a more affordable $899. 8GB felt workable in the XPS 13, and it didn’t have a fancy OLED, but it cost $200 less.

Update, October 14th: The entry-level ExpertBook will have 12GB of RAM for $899, not 8GB. See new post here.

The ExpertBook A7 will have that bright OLED, an aluminum chassis, and a haptic trackpad on all configurations.
It also comes in black.
Pricier configurations will go up to the Intel Core 7 350 and also offer AMD Ryzen AI chips.

The screen is gorgeous, the hardware works, and it finally runs full Android. But there’s too much Amazon in my tablet.

JPMorgan Chase is keeping AI agents out.

During an earnings call on Tuesday, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon made it clear how he feels about AI agents: “We’re not going to allow just any… outside agent to come in inside the company, because it’s just too risky for clients and for JPMorgan.”

A JPMorgan Chase spokesperson later confirmed to CNBC that the company blocks outside AI agents from performing tasks for customers.

The Tesla Roadster could have stayed vaporware

It took nearly a decade for Tesla’s next-gen sports car to arrive, but it’s finally here. The timing couldn’t be worse.

My first look at the world’s most expensive Apple TV and the pretty-in-pink HomePod Mini 2 — now with Siri AI, sort of.

Minor updates to the Mini, along with a price bump and a delay for Siri AI, are disappointing — but I love the new pink color and that I can properly pair the smart speaker with my Mac. I’m excited that Apple added far-field mics to the Apple TV 4K (4th gen) and, of course, thrilled that remote now has Find My. But that price … ouch.

You break it, you buy it (again).

Apple is charging $279 for all HomeView repairs, just $20 less than the smart home hub costs new. It’s $39 with AppleCare, but otherwise an official repair won’t make much sense. It’s another pricing problem for HomeView, which ships without either a mount or power adapter if you want it wall-mounted.
