The GitHub Copilot app is getting a big update.

Along with support for projects, which lets you assign Copilot a task across multiple repos, the GitHub Copilot app now allows you to pick up your work where you left off when you switch to other devices. You can now create reusable AI automations within the GitHub Copilot app as well.

Another election year, another tech company war room.

OpenAI is the latest tech company (and according to Politico, the first major AI company) to set up a command center for fighting election misinfo and abuse of its systems, approaching the second major AI-era US election:

The Election Operations Center will begin running this week until all votes are counted, to identify the potential spread of misinformation or other efforts to disrupt the elections. It’s meant in large part to combat abuse of the company’s own tools like ChatGPT, monitoring real-time events and fielding reports of unexpected behavior from models or cases of suspected violations of their platform’s terms.

Voters in Texas agree: They hate data centers

Some are even mad enough to vote for Democrats.

SK Hynix says memory shortages will last through 2030.

It’s a time frame the company has suggested before. It says a “virtuous cycle” (well, virtuous for memory manufacturers at least) is seeing AI productivity gains lead to increased demand, maintaining pressure on supply even as SK Hynix ramps up production. It’s already signed agreements to sell more than half the RAM it’ll produce through 2028.

NY Governor Kathy Hochul signs law banning harmful AI chatbot features for kids.

Under the law, AI companies must block chatbots from pretending they’re humans when chatting with a user under 18. They also restrict other inappropriate conversations with kids, including those that involve flattery, unprompted emotional questions, and encouragement surrounding secret-keeping.

The law requires AI companies to verify the ages of users and include “at least one option that does not depend solely on government ID.” Last month, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani banned younger schoolkids from using AI.

Mario 64, but you can *pull him out of the screen* and play with him in your real world.

We have mixed feelings about AI, but 0:22 in this video made my inner kid jump for joy! This is what I hoped Magic Leap would be. Instead, it’s game reverse engineering bringing all my childhood dreams to life. This one’s based on the full open-source Mario64 decomp, says creator Lucas Martinic, with assist from Claude Opus 5.5. He says he’ll release a repo so people can try.

Trump wants everyone to stop saying “AI.”

The president asked when The Wall Street Journal would swap the term for “Super Intelligence.” Legally, he can only force executive branch agencies to make the switch, but in a Truth Social post, he says he’ll soon “be officially BANNING the term, ‘AI/Artificial Intelligence,’ in all relevant documents, and everything else, due to its inaccuracy.”

Social media post reading: “When will The Wall Street Journal start calling Artificial Intelligence (AI), a very bad and inaccurate name, SI (Super Intelligence), the name which virtually everyone else is using, or soon will be. In short order, we will be officially BANNING the term, “AI/Artificial Intelligence,” in all relevant documents, and everything else, due to its inaccuracy. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP”
