Huawei’s Google-less OS arrives.

Here’s chairman Richard Yu feeling a bit full of himself at the launch of the company’s HarmonyOS NEXT beta on Friday, according to Nikkei:

“We have seized this opportunity to overtake [the others] on a bend by building an operating system that is self-controllable and secure. In just over a decade, we have achieved some milestones that the Western countries took three to four decades to achieve.”

Android’s AirTag competitors are off to a poor start.

But not because of the hardware: because of Google’s Find My Device network. All the reviews I’ve read so far say that it’s just not finding the devices. Here’s Android Central:

And get this: it wasn’t even the network that helped me find my “lost” trackers.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 seems like a minor upgrade.

Specifications for the upcoming foldable have leaked ahead of its expected launch next month, with Smartprix reporting incremental improvements over its predecessor.

The device will supposedly feature a 7.6-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2x internal screen with a 2160 x 1856 resolution and a 4:3.4 aspect ratio. It’s also 14 grams lighter and powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
