Everything’s Balatro.

Balatro is once again having a moment. The game snapped up the best debut game award at this year’s BAFTAs. (With Ben Starr reprising his role as Jimbo to accept the award to maintain its creator’s strict policy of anonymity.) Then the game made a brief but fun appearance in the new Black Mirror season in the Hotel Reverie episode. As you can imagine, its creator, localthunk, was quite chuffed at the shout-out.

A YouTube video on your PC cooler.

Corsair has just updated its iCUE software to enable YouTube videos to play on its range of LCD all-in-one coolers. I’ve set mine up to watch Arsenal’s Champions League game against Real Madrid on repeat, just so I can see Declan Rice’s wonder goals a few more times. #COYG

Here’s the secret Steam Machine that Valve probably used to test headsets.

Jon Bringus isn’t saying how he obtained this unicorn, but it looks completely legit!

It self-IDs as a “Valve Steambox,” fires up a Steam screen, makes Steam hardware sounds, and natively pairs with Steam Controllers! Intriguing components inside, like a presence-sensing front panel that fires up its iconic ring light. It appears to have a VirtualLink USB-C port, so it probably helped Valve designers test wired VR headsets before that standard failed.

LG’s OLED UltraGear GX9 series is now available.

There are three gaming monitors in the lineup, all with a curved 240Hz display and 21:9 aspect ratio, serving as an all-in-one entertainment center that combines LG’s webOS platform with easy access to streaming services. The main difference is size and price, with all three models available to buy on the LG website:

A full-screen gaming mode might come to Windows soon.

A Windows Insider build deep diver found a reference for a “full screen experience” startup mode in Windows 11. As noted by Windows Central, the reference implies that multiple gaming interfaces will likely be selectable. Could it all point toward the next-gen Windows handheld gaming experience change Microsoft has been talking about?
