Polaris Dawn Mission is off to a good start.

At 5:23AM ET, a SpaceX Falcon 9 successfully launched the four-person all-civilian crew into space on the multi-day mission. Among other things, they’ll be conducting the first-ever space walk by commercial astronauts wearing SpaceX-developed suits, and testing Starlink’s laser-based communications.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds might include heart rate monitoring.

Apple’s busy updating the AirPods lineup, but MacRumors reports that when the Powerbeats Pro 2 revision ships next year, workout warriors can expect the heart rate tracking feature that has popped up on other buds like Sennheiser’s Momentum Sport.

Information from a software update also points to ANC, spatial audio, adaptive audio, and four colors with matching cases: orange, purple, black, and beige.

Go read about the pirates making potentially life-saving medicine for pennies on the dollar.

I kind of assumed that making medicine is... complicated! And maybe it is, but Jason Koebler’s story at 404 Media about the Four Thieves Vinegar Collective sure makes me wonder.

They make it sound like Koebler’s friend Katelin didn’t need to die; not just because of ridiculous drug prices, but because they could have illegally made the medicine at home.

I found the “dorkiest piece of headgear” at IFA.

Does it look good on me?

EcoFlow’s new $129 Power Hat is possibly the most uncomfortable hat I’ve ever worn — but if it can keep my phone charged while running around IFA in the blistering 90-degree heat in Berlin, it might be worth it.

The company says the hat can charge a 4,000mAh smartphone in a few hours. It’s surprisingly lightweight but unsurprisingly unattractive.

Trying on the Power Hat. It’s very light but feels like you’re putting a giant piece of plastic on your head.
The solar cells are made from a thin, flexible material called passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) monocrystalline silicon.

Anker’s sleek whole home backup solution heads to Europe.

The modular Solix X1 already announced for the US is now available in Europe in single- or three-phase configurations. LFP battery capacities start at 5kWh and expand to 180kWh with up to 36kW of power output. That’s enough to juice any device — even your EV — for hours, days, or indefinite operation when integrated with solar.

Think Powerwall, but not from Elon Musk.

Neat, I just saved €5.79 this month using my €20,000 whole home backup solution.
Yes, it’ll charge your EV with another box Anker will sell you.
I love you AND your giant battery.
Bring on the apes.
