The con man used the name of a real FBI agent to scam victims attached to an “@usa.com” email instead of the real @fbi.gov.
In April, the FTC announced a new rule that could allow it to help people scammed via government and business impersonations. Seniors are often targeted, but so are others, like The Cut’s financial columnist, who lost $50,000 to a man impersonating a CIA agent.
If you’ve changed your mind (or have a family member who accidentally backed up their entire camera roll) Google Photos now offers an “Undo device backup” option in the settings.
Images and videos will be removed from the cloud but will remain on the device and backup will be turned off. The feature is now available to iOS users, and is coming to Android soon.
Genie 2 is “capable of generating an endless variety of action-controllable, playable 3D environments for training and evaluating embodied agents,” according to a blog post.

As AI companies vie for more processing power, Meta announced its largest data center yet in Richland Parish, Louisiana. Construction will start in December and will continue through 2030.

- He doesn’t think Elon Musk will wield his new political power against business rivals: “It would go so deeply against the values I believe he holds very dear to himself.”
- His disagreement with my view that OpenAI and Microsoft are in the process of breaking up: “I don’t think we’re disentangling.”
