On (HBO) Max, there are no writers or directors, only “creators.”

As if it wasn’t already painfully obvious how ready studios are to further devalue the labor workers do to make their films and TV shows possible, Max’s new interface has done away with listing writing and directing credits in favor of a catch-all “Creators” label.

Because hey, what’s the difference between a writer, a non-writing producer, and a director? They’re all just little content machines, right?

V creator Kenneth Johnson wants to reclaim his thought provoking series from QAnon fans.

Though Kenneth Johnson’s V was a miniseries about reptilian aliens surreptitiously invading Earth, it was also a brilliant — and fairly transparent — anti-fascism parable about the power of collective resistance.

But in a fascinating new Vanity Fair piece, Johnson says over the years he’s been trying to revive V as a modern film, he’s also been fending off QAnon-minded fans dead set on “believing that there really was a lizard race and that I had been trying to warn everybody.”

Oh, the Humanity.

If you need a break from unruly hijinks in Tears of the Kingdom, another excellent game dropped this week: the puzzler Humanity. Also, this is a good time to get into the strange world of Death Stranding, as it’s currently free on the Epic Games Store.

Lastly: watch these Disney and Hulu shows (like the charming Willow) while you still can.

And Just Like That... Che Diaz became Judas.

And Just Like That’s always been pretty lighthearted, but this “Last Supper”-esque ad for the show’s second season really makes it seem like it’s going to lean into the Che Diaz hate this summer.

An assortment of characters from Sex and the City, and And Just Like That sitting at a table styled to resemble The Last Supper.

What to do this weekend.

If we’re being honest, you’re probably spending as much time as possible playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on the Nintendo Switch. But there’s other stuff to do: you can head outside with Niantic’s new virtual pet game Peridot; stay on the couch and binge Black Knight on Netflix, a fun mashup of Death Stranding and Mad Max; or check out Diablo IV’s latest beta.
