I’m having a blast with Asus’s chunky gaming tablet.

Asus’s new ROG Flow Z13 is available for preorder. I tested a preproduction model as a ridiculous gaming handheld, and I’m working on a review of the final hardware.

As a 13-inch gaming tablet starting at $2,099.99 ($100 more than announced), the Z13 is a pricey, niche machine that falls somewhere between the Steam Deck and a full-sized gaming laptop. But it’s charming, with impressive real-world performance.

Stay tuned for the review.

ROG goes FE.

Asus just launched its first ‘Fan Edition’ phone, in Thailand only for now, and unlike Samsung’s stripped back FE handsets the ROG Phone 9 FE doesn’t give up much. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is slightly slower than the regular model’s 8 Elite, and at 5,500mAh the battery is a bit smaller, but everything else is the same.

That also means it appears similar to the leaked Zenfone 12 Ultra, which launches tomorrow.

The ROG series’ rear LED lights return too.
There’s also a secondary USB-C port on the phone’s side.

Asus announced a NUC AI mini PC topped with a color E Ink display.

Called the Asus NUC 14 Pro AI Plus, it’s basically the NUC 14 Pro AI in a translucent case. That color E Ink display on top is customizable, as Good e-Reader calls out. Asus says users “can generate AI images” on the display using a built-in app.

We’ve asked Asus for more info on its availability.

We find out what “Rose of Man’s Land” smells like.

Asus made a laptop that transfers its heat to an air diffuser on the back lid. You won’t be stuffing run-of-the-mill Glade gel packs in these; instead, the Asus Adol 14 Air Fragrance Edition has its own replaceable inserts with conceptual descriptions... like “Be a new her.”

Blink and you’ll miss these Zenbook Duo and ROG Zephyrus updates.

Asus didn’t announce any huge changes for these beloved laptops at CES, with the new Zenbook Duo just being bumped to a series 2 Intel Core Ultra 9 processor.

Meanwhile, the ROG Zephyrus G14 and Zephyrus G16 gaming laptops are being refreshed with AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Intel Core Ultra 9 285H CPUs, respectively, alongside Nvidia 50-series graphics.

Asus has new Intel Lunar Lake laptops.

The Zenbook S 14, Vivobook S 14, Vivobook 14/16 Flip, and ExpertBook P5 each have the new Core Ultra 7 and cost between $1,000 and $1,500. You can pre-order the Zenbook today from Asus; the Zenbook and Vivobook should go live at Best Buy in the next couple days. The Expertbook and Vivobook Flips are coming later this year.

The Asus ROG Ally X is now available for $799.

Can a Windows handheld beat Valve’s Steam Deck OLED? This sequel to last year’s ROG Ally answers with more storage, faster RAM, double the battery, and USB4. We’ll need more time for benchmarking and battery testing before we can publish our review, but if you can’t wait, it is available now from Asus and Best Buy.

Yes, I can confirm this is the ROG Ally X.

I’m the only one outside Asus to have touched one (don’t ask me why!) and Asus wouldn’t let me publish pics that day... but this new leaked image is exactly the device I touched, minus new texturing. The new leak also corroborates a doubled 80Wh batteryand claims it’ll last 3 hours of heavy gaming.

Here’s a peek at the first Snapdragon X Elite laptop coming from Asus.

Microsoft’s big AI PC event is just days away, and we’re seeing more leaks of Arm-powered Windows PCs with Qualcomm’s new chips inside.

This post from WinFuture’s Roland Quandt shows that, like Dell and Lenovo, Asus’ plans include a version of the Vivobook S 15 OLED that’s ready to battle Apple’s M-series laptops.

The new Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop is now available in the US.

As we saw at CES last month, Asus’ G16 and G14 latops are sleeker and thinner for 2024, featuring a new aluminum build, OLED screens, larger trackpads, and Intel Core Ultra 9 Meteor Lake chips to go with Nvidia 40-series GPUs.

The G16 price goes from $1,999.99 to $3,299.99 and it’s available directly from Asus or Best Buy. We haven’t reviewed this one yet, but hopefully, that new look hasn’t ruined this iteration of one of our most recommended gaming laptops.

The Noctua RTX 4080 Super is chonky and tanned.

Nvidia has launched its RTX 4080 Super GPUs today, and Asus is ready with an update to last year’s RTX 4080 Noctua Edition. The Super model includes a four slot cooler with 120mm Noctua fans on top. Asus hasn’t confirmed pricing just yet, but given the $450 premium on the previous RTX 4080 model it’s probably going to be a lot more than the $999 starting price of the RTX 4080 Super.

Asus’ dual-screen laptop has arrived.

Following its reveal at CES earlier this month, Asus has launched the absolutely ridiculous Zenbook Duo, which stacks one 14-inch display atop the other, giving you a whole 19.8 inches of screen along with a detachable keyboard. It’s on sale now for $1,499.99.

Another day done at CES.

The show floor only just opened yesterday, but we got a glimpse at a ton of cool new products, prototypes, and features:

• Asus made a portable monitor — and a laptop — with two screens.

• Sony and Honda showed off an Afeela EV prototype that puts Fortnite on your bumper.

• Amazon announced Matter casting support for Prime Video.

Google and Samsung teamed up to combine Quick Share and Nearby Share into a single sharing solution.

• This AI startup made a little gadget that’s supposed to use your apps for you.

There’s still more to come! Stay tuned to our coverage, and make sure to check out The Verge’s TikTok and Instagram where we go hands-on with new devices.

Would you carry a foldable OLED monitor?

I would totally use the new Asus ZenScreen Fold that’s on display here at CES 2024 — if the price were right. I’d hook up my Steam Deck and work laptop. Asus did not tell me if the price was right. Any bets?
