Afraid the Steam Machine will be too expensive? Imagine the price of this NUC with a mobile RTX 5090.

At Computex, Asus announced the ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 — a mini-PC with Intel’s highest-end mobile chip and a flagship RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. It’s even decked out in gold accents for the Republic of Gamers’ 20th anniversary.

Like other Asus Computex announcements, there’s no pricing. But as Liliputing points out, the standard model with an RTX 5080 costs $3,799.

The Snapdragon X2 Elite chip is making its way to a mini-PC.

Announced at Computex, Asus’s new Ascent QN10 is the first mini-PC to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite. It has quite the port selection, including three USB4 and four USB-A. And it’s under 0.7L in volume, which is about 0.1L smaller than the tiny M4 Mac Mini. But did I mention its power button is not on the bottom?

Of course, like all of Asus’s Computex announcements, price is TBD.

Asus’ new Zenbook 14 might be another MacBook Neo competitor — if the price is right.

Asus is launching various Vivobooks and ExperBooks at Computex, but I’m most interested in the Zenbook 14 with a base-level Snapdragon X1-26-100. It’ll come in AMD and Intel configs too, but the Qualcomm version will start with a lowly 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD.

Sounds like another Neo wannabe, but we don’t know for certain since pricing is TBD.

Asus’ Zenbook Duo is finally up for preorder but costs $400 more than expected.

The dual-screen Zenbook Duo I reviewed in January was said to cost $2,399.99 with an Intel Core Ultra X9 388H. Now preorders are open, but a base model costs $2,499.99 and the 388H configuration I tested will be $2,699.99. Ouch.

We reached out to Asus for the reason, but company reps did not immediately reply. Seems like RAMageddon claims another.

Asus ProArt displays are the first to be validated for Adobe Premiere.

The new Adobe Premiere Color Mode, which is available in the latest Premiere beta, is a color grading system built inside the editing program replacing Lumetri. The Asus ProArt validation extends to full HDR editing workflows with the new Premiere feature.

🎥 Here’s our video pitting the MacBook Neo against laptops from Asus, Lenovo, and Acer.

Last week I told you how much better the MacBook Neo is compared to similarly priced Windows laptops. Now, let me show you.

I tested three Windows laptops in the MacBook Neo’s price range — there’s no contest

The cut corners of these Asus, Lenovo, and Acer laptops are glaringly obvious next to the Neo.

Asus announces refreshed ROG Strix gaming laptops with new Intel 200HX Plus chips.

The Asus ROG Strix G16 and G18 are getting a chip bump to the new Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus. Both also have upgraded displays, with the G16 reaching 300Hz and the 240Hz G18 now using Mini LED. Pricing and availability are TBD.

Asus is also teasing a new flagship ROG Strix Scar 18 with RTX 5090 Laptop GPU and 290HX Plus CPU, expected in Q2.

Asus’ GoPro laptop is launching for $3,000.

Asus didn’t price any laptops it announced at CES, but prices are slowly tricking in. The ProArt PX13 GoPro Edition costs $2,999.99 in the US, while the standard model using a similar AMD Strix Halo processor with less RAM (64GB instead of 128GB) costs slightly less at $2,799.99. Both are available today.

Did Asus just make a sleeper gaming laptop with a monster iGPU?

AMD’s Strix Halo is a big, pricey chip with the best integrated graphics we’ve ever seen. The Asus TUF is the brand’s budget-friendly gaming line. So how “affordable” will Asus’s new TUF Gaming A14 laptop with Strix Halo be? We don’t know yet, because Asus hasn’t finalized pricing. But I look forward to testing this TUF.

Look at those RGB stripes.

RGB stripe subpixel arrangements are the next big thing in OLED gaming monitors, and my colleague Antonio took some great photos of Asus’s ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWM monitor at CES so you can see the arrangement on a real monitor. Sean snapped a few photos of RBG stripe screens, too.

Here’s a closer look at Asus’s Wi-Fi 8 concept router that looks like a d20.

The Wi-Fi 8 spec isn’t finalized, but Asus is showing a ROG NeoCore concept router at CES. Buying a router based on an unfinished reference design spec sounds risky, but I do hope this d20-like styling sets a trend.

The clear spider-like version you see here is Asus’s Wi-Fi 8 test model. A rep told me the NeoCore internalizes the antennas, which are the edges of the polyhedron. Neat.

The spider router with AI has arrived.

If you thought it was just a CES concept that Asus would kill with fire, I’m sorry to bring bad news: the Asus ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI has arrived for $900 at Best Buy. It’ll be at Newegg tomorrow. It’s “just” a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 device, so AI is the “draw” here.

A very Microsoft problem.

There’s been a bit of backlash to the Xbox Ally handheld’s $999 price tag, which will be a stiff test of consumer interest in expensive console hardware. But it’s also a test of Microsoft’s “everything is an Xbox” philosophy, because this sure is expensive for an Xbox that only plays PC games, and not everyone is sold:

Dkfkhfkwkdnc:

Only Microsoft can release a thousand dollar device branded “Xbox” that can’t play Xbox games. Only a millionaire executive at this specific company could have hallucinated this.
