    TikTok’s Chinese parent company is burning a lot of money.

    Thanks to Salvador Rodriguez at The Wall Street Journal, we get a rare peek into the financials of ByteDance, the Beijing-based, privately-held tech conglomerate behind TikTok. In the first three months of this year, ByteDance told employees it had a net loss of $4.7 billion and $18.3 billion in total revenue. By comparison, Meta reported $8.5 billion in profit and $27,9 billion in revenue for the same period.

    Twitter ran ads next to tweets promoting child pornography.

    That’s according to fresh reporting from Insider and Reuters. According to Reuters, the problem has affected dozens of Twitter advertisers, including big brands like Disney and Comcast. (Also, Twitter internally estimates that 13 percent of all tweets contain porn.) The Verge first revealed Twitter’s challenges in policing child porn on its platform last month.
