Ford EV owners will get their Tesla Supercharger adapters for free.

In a post on X, Ford CEO Jim Farley said that Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners in the US and Canada could reserve their complimentary adapters. The adapters, which enable EVs equipped with CCS ports to charge at Tesla Superchargers, are being supplied by Tesla, a spokesperson said.

Ford was the first company to announce its intention to adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard for its future EVs — a commitment that was eventually repeated by basically the rest of the global auto industry.

Will GM take my advice and bring back the Chevy Volt?

It sounds promising, after GM CEO Mary Barra said in an earnings call this morning that the automaker would be bringing back plug-in hybrids.

Our forward plans include bringing our plug-in hybrid technology to select vehicles in North America.

Is she responding to the influential GM dealers who urged the company to get back into hybrids after EV sales growth slowed? Or is she an avid Verge reader who loves a convincing blog post written by a handsome editor? I’ll let you decide.

The Lambos are always greener on the other side.

Today, Lamborghini reaffirmed its electrification strategy from 2021 — aptly named the “Direzione Cor Tauri” referring to the “brightest star of the constellation of Taurus” (Lamborghini’s logo being the charging bull) — that will see it electrifying its model lineup and decarbonizing its value chain.

As part of that strategy, Lamborghini says it reduce CO2 emissions 40 percent per car by 2030. It will achieve this through plug-in hybrids, like the newly announced Revuelto or the upcoming Urus, or full electrics, like the Lanzador concept. Whichever you choose, supercar ownership is about to get a lot greener.

Arrival will depart the stock exchange.

The British EV company said in a filing that it had received notice from NASDAQ that it was being delisted and removed from the stock exchange for failure to comply with listing rules. The cash-strapped company has already gone through several rounds of layoffs, and is reportedly in talks with an accounting firm to act as administrator if it can’t secure more funding to keep the lights on.

The company has been struggling to make do with its limited resources for several years, even as it seeks to kick off serial production of its main product, an electric van. Arrival is the latest of many fledgling companies that have been struggling to match Tesla’s success in bringing new vehicles to market.

Ford found a use for all those unsold Mustang Mach-Es.

The automaker is finally allowing its dealers to rent out the electric crossover, as per a notice seen by CarsDirect. The notice only applies to 2023 Mustang Mach-Es, and not the 2024 models (which I don’t think is even out yet).

To be sure, Ford has a contentious relationship with some of its dealers over EVs. Roughly half of Ford’s dealers say they don’t want to spend up to $1.2 million on upgrades to sell EVs. Also, allowing dealers to rent out the Mach-E is a potential solution to inventory issues that have been plaguing Ford. People don’t want to buy your flagship EV because it’s too expensive, or charging sucks? Maybe they’ll want to rent it instead!

This timeline from the Cruise pedestrian-dragging incident investigation is fascinating — and gruesome.

According to the report, Cruise dispatched a team of contractors to the scene within 45 minutes of the crash to take pictures and video of the aftermath, some of which included “blood and skin patches on the ground.” What a job that must be!

    LeT’s PuT a SmIL3 on Urus Face.

Props to The Verge’s wearables reviewer Victoria Song for the inspired headline. But yeah, Lamborghini, what is going on with this camouflage? I’ve seen some shoddy wrap jobs in my days, but this one takes the Panettone. YouTuber Varryx may have put it best when he said “What the hell are we looking at?”

The answer, according to Varryx, may be the hybrid Urus prototype “in its final form.” Let’s hope that doesn’t include the grinning macabre tarp its currently under!

Tesla’s rearview cameras are messed up.

The company issued a recall notice for nearly 200,000 Model S, X, and Y vehicles from 2023 for a “software instability” that prevents the rearview camera from working properly. Of course, Tesla has already begun releasing an over-the-air software update to fix the issue, as it does. Not a good look for a company that has positioned itself at the forefront of the software revolution in the auto industry!
