Korg’s new compact synth is also a self-playing percussion instrument.

Instead of just including a library of pre-recorded samples captured from percussion instruments like marimbas and xylophones, Korg Berlin’s Phase8 features eight “replaceable and tunable metal resonators” that are played using electromechanical triggers.

Originally developed as a collection of prototypes, Korg Berlin says the finalized version of the Phase8, demonstrated in a recent video, will go on sale some time in the first quarter of 2026.

You’ll still want to let the Wookiee win when you build your own Holochess table.

Some Star Wars fans build their own lightsabers, but YouTuber Maker Mac70 instead devoted a significant amount of time recreating the Millennium Falcon’s Holochess table. Built using six small LCD screens and a special plate from a Japanese company called ASKA3D that creates a floating holographic effect, the table features a single-player version of the game because of a limited viewing angle.

Short video clips demonstrating how the custom DIY Holochess set works.

Lego’s Pixar Luxo Jr. deserves a spot on your desk.

Available for preorder starting today for $69.99 and shipping on June 1st, 2025, Lego’s latest Pixar set recreates the studio’s Luxo Jr. lamp mascot which first appeared in a short film in 1986.

The 613-piece set includes a fully articulated replica of the lamp and a ball that opens to reveal Easter eggs inspired by Pixar Disney films. By removing two panels, Luxo Jr. can also be posed to look like it’s balancing atop the ball.

Recreate the opening titles of your favorite Pixar movie.

An unreleased Atari Lynx fighting game is finally being finished over 25 years later.

Beyond Games started development on Ultravore in the early ‘90s but the game was never completed or released. Songbird Productions acquired the rights over 25 years ago and is now working to finish and enhance the game with new graphics, audio, variable damage for different moves, and potentially other upgrades like more characters and environments.

Songbird is considering launching a crowdfunding campaign to help fund additional development and bring more features to the game.
