A full season of Messi mania.

MLS is back in February, which means the second season of the 10-year-long soccer streaming experiment on Apple TV is about to begin. This season is notable in particular because the league’s crown jewel — Lionel Messi — will be around from the beginning, which is a big deal for Apple’s ambitions in the space.

And it turns out the 2024 version of MLS Season Pass launches today, actually, with Messi’s Inter Miami playing pre-season matches in Saudi Arabia.

Skull & Bones is a real game that you can play soon.

In open beta, at least. Ubisoft’s oft-delayed pirate simulator is launching on February 16th, but ahead of that date you can check out a beta version from the 7th through the 11th. It’s available on PC, Xbox, and PS5, and you can check out all of the details right here.

GTA is Netflix’s biggest gaming launch so far.

It’s not clear how many people have downloaded the mobile GTA trilogy via Netflix, but in today’s earnings report it says the release is “...our most successful launch to date in terms of installs and engagement, with some consumers clearly signing up simply to play these games.”

That said, gaming remains a relatively minor part of Netflix’s business. Despite claiming that “engagement tripled last year,” the company said that games are still “small, and certainly not yet material relative to our film and series business.”

    The theater’s dyin’, Cloud.

Before there was Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth there was Advent Children, a CG movie that served as a sequel to the original game from 1997. It’s a bit of a, let’s say, acquired taste, but if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, Square Enix is bringing it to select US theaters on February 21st and 22nd.

    A pair of weird mysteries.

On the same day that Immortality is launching on the PS5, director Sam Barlow and his Half Mermaid studio have also teased two new projects: Project D and Project C. The Steam pages are full of redacted text, but C sounds like a classic Barlow cinematic thriller — think Her Story or Telling Lies — while D is billed as a survival horror game, a fun twist considering the his experience working on Silent Hill.
