The latest batch of retro games for Switch Online subscribers includes a historical curiosity with Devil World on the NES. It’s a puzzle adventure directed by Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto that went previously unreleased in the North America due in large part to its religious imagery. Now you can check it out for yourself — perfect vibes for Halloween.
After a long wait of more than a decade, Remedy returns to the Alan Wake series with an appropriately strange and scary sequel. Elsewhere, the hard-to-explain indie hit Dave the Diver is now on the Switch, Apple’s sci-fi drama Invasion just wrapped up its second season, and both Pain Hustlers (Netflix) and Five Nights at Freddy’s (Peacock) are now streaming.
It’s also a good time to catch up on Metal Gear Solid. Oh, and if you’re looking for something spooky to read, horror legend Junji Ito has a new collection out.

Epic is teasing the next season of Fortnite, which appears to have a time travel component that will bring that game back to the original Chapter 1. I’m not exactly sure what that will look like, but we’ll find out on November 3rd. Hopefully they bring back the black hole.
The retro game experts at Digital Eclipse have just kicked off a new series of ‘80s-inspired arcade games. The first — called Candy Creeps — looks like just the thing ahead of Halloween. You can check it out now on Steam.
At 1PM ET the next Xbox event is kicking off, which you can watch below. We’re not expecting anything huge — it’s mostly focused on announced games like Alan Wake 2 and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth — but if there are any surprises, you can read about them right here on The Verge.
