There are some very good options if you’ve got the time. Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron is in theaters, while Leave the World Behind is streaming on Netflix. When it comes to games, things are pretty busy: Baldur’s Gate 3 finally hit Xbox, Final Fantasy XVI has some surprise DLC, Lego Fortnite launched, and Apple Arcade added a few new titles like Sonic Dream Team.
Epic’s rollout of games inside of Fortnite continues. Today it’s Rocket Racing, from Rocket League developer Psyonix, which is — as you’ve probably guessed — a 3D arcade racer. With rockets. I played a bit of it earlier in the week and it felt like a pretty slick game, one where you spend almost as much time flying through the air as speeding along the road. The multiplayer survival horror game is getting a single-player story, courtesy of studio Supermassive Games, which just so happens to specialize in decision-focused slashers. It’s called The Casting of Frank Stone, and it’s launching in 2024 on the PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X / S.
