That’s EA Sports FC, if you’ve forgotten, and we’ll be getting gameplay and (presumably) a release date during a livestream on July 13th at 12:30PM ET. We’ll have all the news right here, but in the meantime, here’s a CG trailer that doesn’t reveal much of anything aside from a very dramatic voice over from Daniel Kaluuya.
This week’s new releases include the post-apocalyptic buddy comedy Biosphere, which is both in theaters and available on-demand. You can also check out the anime-inspired My Adventures with Superman that premiered on Adult Swim this week.
In the world of video games Fortnite is in the midst of its annual summer event, the classic roguelike deckbuilder Slay the Spire is now available on Apple Arcade, and if you’re a Game Pass subscriber, you can jump back into Los Santos with the return of GTAV.
The spooky teen adventure game Oxenfree — which is now under the Netflix umbrella — is getting a sequel called Lost Signals on July 12th. But given that the original came out years ago, you’ve probably forgotten what actually happened on Edwards Island — which is likely why Netflix put out this handy recap.
And if you haven’t played Oxenfree yet, it’s only a few hours long, and just the thing if you’re in the mood for a Stranger Things vibe.
It definitely wants to make sure you don’t forget about its non-FIFA game EA Sports FC coming this year. We knew that EA had acquired naming rights for Spain’s LaLiga, and now we can see what that actually looks like as part of the league’s visual rebranding.
It will officially be known as LaLiga EA Sports, while the second division will hilariously be called LaLiga Hypermotion, named after in-game animation tech. Of course, no one will call them that — but it’ll be hard to avoid while watching matches.
The onslaught of summer science fiction continues with season 2 of Foundation on Apple TV Plus, which kicks off on July 14th. We’ll have more on the new season next week, but in the meantime you can check out this trailer filled with beautiful landscapes, a deadly monster, and Lee Pace on a rampage.
