Bayonetta 3 is out on the Nintendo Switch today, and, well, it sounds like it’ll be a frustrating experience for long-time fans. As my colleague Ash Parrish explains in her review, “The game was a thoroughly enjoyable, worthy successor for its first three quarters, only to faceplant so hard in the final fourth that I’m ready to write off the entire game’s existence.”

From black-and-white superhero stories to stop-motion family films, the streaming services have plenty of new stuff to freak you out this spooky season.
The sequel doesn’t do all that much new, but it’s a solid take on a dying breed of film
We just added two new titles to our ongoing list of 2022’s best, and they’re both perfect for this time of year: Wendell & Wild from director Henry Selick and the horror anthology Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. Watch with the lights on.
It won’t be out in time for spooky season, but Netflix has just released the title sequence for the upcoming anime from horror legend Junji Ito. It doesn’t give much away about the show — which has the very long title of Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre — but it’s at least something to hold over fans until the show starts streaming in January.
Death Stranding director Hideo Kojima seems to have a few projects in the works, including Death Stranding 2 and a mystery game starring Elle Fanning. Or maybe those are the same thing; it’s hard to tell with Kojima. But in an interview with The Guardian, he said a few intriguing things about an upcoming project without giving much away: “It’s almost like a new medium. If this succeeds, it will turn things around — not just in the game industry, but in the movie industry as well.”
Animated Star Wars spinoff Tales of the Jedi starts streaming tomorrow, and it will include a welcome surprise: the return of Yaddle. The character (who is the same species as Yoda and Grogu) will be voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard, who calls the role a “dream come true.”
