The sports streaming mega-service now has a CEO.

Pete Distad has been named CEO of the upcoming sports streaming service from ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery. Distad has had lengthy stints at both Apple — where he had a big hand in getting Apple TV Plus off the ground — and Hulu. He left Apple back in May.

The as-yet-unnamed service will launch this fall and is expected to cost around $50. “Pricing is going to be in the higher ranges of what people have talked about,” Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch said in early March.

Who among us can’t relate to being in “cloud storage hell”?

Charlie Warzel has written a piece at The Atlantic that will likely resonate with many of you. He’s got years worth of photos and videos spread between Apple’s iCloud Photo Library and Google Photos and now feels indefinitely beholden to these services as a result.

In my case, you can add Lightroom to the mix. What’s the endgame in these situations? Do we just keep paying a handful of companies forever? I don’t have a great answer.

Apple discontinues M1 MacBook Air, leaving behind its iconic wedge design.

As typically happens when a new Apple device gets announced, it’s “out with the old, in with the new.” The company has quietly discontinued the M1 MacBook Air, which had until now remained in the lineup alongside the redesigned M2 model. But with today’s M3 upgrade, Apple is only selling the notched, more squared off style of Air.

That means the end of the MacBook Air’s wedge-shaped chassis, which stuck around for a long time. The M1 Air is my work laptop, and aside from its very yesterday display bezels, this form factor still holds up remarkably well.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 review: redemption never sounded so good

    Verge Score

The company has always delivered on audio quality, but after stumbling with some bugs and hardware issues on the Momentum True Wireless 3 earbuds, Sennheiser is focusing on the little things — and it shows.

Here’s how much LG’s 2024 OLED TV lineup will cost you.

With some models set to start shipping as soon as next month, LG has begun sharing pricing details for its 2024 lineup of OLED TVs.

The G4, which offers the very best and brightest picture quality that LG is capable of, starts at $2,499 for the 55-inch size and goes up to $24,999 for a 97-inch model. As usual, I expect most people will stick with the C4 series, which includes more modest brightness improvements at prices that won’t break the bank — especially once sales kick in.

Stay tuned for deeper impressions of LG’s new TVs in the next couple weeks.

Watch Jon Stewart and a Daily Show audience member tangle over TikTok and the decline of “TV.”

Jon Stewart’s presence on The Daily Show already feels very familiar (and very good), but the way people consume their video entertainment has shifted dramatically since he left the anchor’s chair in 2015.

Prior to his episode this past Monday, Stewart had a very interesting conversation with an audience member about how different “TV” has become.

Worth mentioning: Stewart’s return has already boosted TDS ratings in a real way. Turns out people can still be convinced to tune in.
