Samsung’s event live stream is right here.

We expect to see some new phones and laptops from Samsung today, which it will announce during its first in-person event in three years. But you don’t have to be there in person to see it all, there’s still a live stream that anyone can tune into for the news. The show starts at 1PM ET / 10AM PT.

The M2 Pro Mac Mini fills out its case.

Apple’s new M2 Pro Mac Mini comes with more power than any Mini before it. And unlike the M1 or M2 versions, the M2 Pro model actually fills out the spacious Mini case with a larger logic board and more powerful power supply. Unsurprisingly, the M2 Pro model also borrows some internal design ideas from the Mac Studio.

YouTuber Luke Miani has taken it down to the metal to see exactly what’s different with the M2 Pro Mini and the models before it. And when you’re done watching that, check out Chris Welch’s review.

Complaining about tech crap that doesn’t work is always cathartic.

DankPods, one of my favorite YouTubers (read our profile of him here!), just posted a new video where he rips to shreds all of the tech and gadgets that have let him down recently.

Watching DankPods take down a product in his signature style always puts a smile on my face, but this is worth a watch for the phrase “quality internet nugget” alone.

Meta’s Portal almost became an app on Amazon’s Echo Show.

Meta’s Portal was unceremoniously canceled last year, but before it died, there were apparently late stage talks with Amazon to get the Portal’s key features — video calling in WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger — on the Echo Show line of smart displays.

But according to Buzzfeed, Mark Zuckerberg wasn’t a fan of the idea and stopped it from happening.

And now the Portal is dead.

What can we expect if Apple adds touchscreens to the MacBook Pro?

On the Vergecast we discuss the possibility of touchscreen Macs, and what it all really means for pressing confirmation buttons, zooming in on maps, or maybe using an iPad app or two.

The touchscreen Mac, and other Rumours.

With Nilay roaming the wilderness of upstate New York, I talked to Alex and Dan as we imagined the possibility of Macs with OLED screens that you can touch and tried to figure out what MicroLED would do for us.

We also previewed Samsung’s next Unpacked event and attempted to use unlicensed music with some help from Siri.

SmartThings can now set up Matter devices on the iPhone.

Samsung has released the update for its SmartThings iOS app that lets you add Matter-compatible devices to your home. Now iPhone owners have another option alongside Apple’s Home app to set up Matter devices. Once the Matter device is set up it should be controllable by any compatible app, such as Google Home, Apple Home, and SmartThings.

Of course, there are still very few Matter devices available, with just a handful of companies shipping or updating existing devices to support the standard just yet. But that will be changing soon and now if you’ve got a SmartThings home and an iPhone, you’re ready for when they arrive.

The Surface Duo 2 is still my favorite device for reading e-books on.

Microsoft’s odd, two-screen Surface Duo 2 is now well over a year old and doesn’t yet have a successor in sight. But as I wrote last year, its unique properties make it ideal for things like reading e-books, where you can span a book across both screens.

Recently (I don’t know exactly when), the Libby app was updated to support spanning across the screens, so whether I am reading a book in the Kindle, Play Books, or now Libby app, I have the same futuristic reading experience.

Hopefully, Microsoft doesn’t abandon this idea because it’s my preferred device to hit my yearly book reading goal on.
