The Arc browser’s latest feature brings Apple’s peek and pop to your desktop.

One of the things I do the most on my iPhone is long press on links in apps (RIP 3D touch) to pop open a small modal window to view the site without leaving what I’m doing. Now the Arc browser lets me do that on the desktop with its new peek feature. (I guess there’s only one way to brand this kind of thing, huh.)

It only works on sites in your pinned or favorites area, but it’s a great way to read the feed of news on The Verge without juggling a bunch of open tabs, wink wink.

“The thing to know about the new 200-megapixel sensor is that taking 200-megapixel photos is one of the least interesting things you can do with it.”

The S23 Ultra doesn’t break the mold set by the S22 Ultra, but it is a better phone in a number of ways. If you want a big Android phone this year, it’s going to be tough to beat this one.

Charging cables have firmware updates now.

    Everything’s a computer!

(And yes, you can waste your time with a PDF breaking down the official specs for updating USB-C cables.)

OnePlus put a whammy bar on a Keychron.

When this OnePlus keyboard was first teased, I groaned and thought “just buy the Keychron it’s based on”. But now that it’s official, I can’t say I’m mad at it and there are some legitimately cool tweaks, like the height adjustable stand that looks like a guitar’s whammy bar to me.

I reserve the right to groan again whenever OnePlus releases pricing, though.

Power user apps that lean into being power user apps are the best kinds of power user apps.

Raycast, my favorite app launcher/shortcut finder/general utility on the Mac, has come out with a new deep linking feature, extending its long list of features catered to power users.

It’s a feature I will probably never use, but I’m glad that apps like this aren’t afraid to deploy it for the few people that will. Raycast knows what it is and who’s using it.

John Voorhees at MacStories demos how you can integrate the new deep links into Apple’s Shortcuts system to do things that weren’t possible (or even more onerous) before. Rad.

Samsung and Google and Qualcomm are doing something with XR.

Both Qualcomm president and CEO Cristiano Amon and Google SVP Hiroshi Lockheimer came on stage to talk about a new partnership with Samsung related to AR, VR, and XR. But there are no further details other than “this is happening”, so I guess it’s not yet a reality.

We’re just making up Ks now.

Samsung boasts that the new Book3 line has “3K” displays. Not 4K, not 2K, but 3K. (They are 2880 x 1800 pixels.)

Samsung sure is proud of the S23 Ultra’s video capability.

We’re 20 minutes into this event and Samsung’s already told us that all of the vignettes for the event were filmed on the S23 Ultra and we’ve gotten cameos from Ridley Scott and Na Hong-Jin.

Video performance on smartphones has been dominated by the iPhone for years, we’ll have to see if Samsung’s latest changes that.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is a little more ultra this year.

Samsung’s event just started a few minutes ago, but you can read about all of its news already. Leading the pack is the new S23 Ultra, which looks a lot like last year’s S22 Ultra, but comes with a 200-megapixel camera. Here’s Allison Johnson’s first look.

Once a blogger, always a blogger.

Former Verge Executive Editor and current Google employee Dieter Bohn is on the ground at the Samsung event, which warms my blogger heart.

Current Verge reviewer Allison Johnson is also there too, stay tuned for reports from the ground from her.
