Chinese iPhone exports to the US are way, way down.

Shipments dropped 76 percent in April 2025 compared to the year before, as those from India grew by the same percentage, according to new figures from Omdia. April’s figures are low overall, but skewed by March’s efforts to rush 600 tons of product into the US before tariffs hit.

The big question is if Apple will keep prioritizing Indian-made iPhones now that Trump has threatened fresh tariffs on all phones that aren’t made in the USA.

The Browser Company won’t open-source Arc (yet).

After announcing its second browser, Dia, last year, the company stopped developing new features for original breakout Arc. Now CEO Josh Miller explains why, and admits he considered either selling or open-sourcing the software. Neither is on the table right now (because it would require giving up their custom development kit, or “secret sauce”), but “that doesn’t mean it’ll never happen.”

Dia is still in alpha testing, but will open up to Arc members next.

    BYD overtakes Tesla in Europe.

After outdoing Tesla’s global revenue last year, Chinese auto manufacturer BYD just outsold it in Europe for the first time too.

BYD sold 7,231 battery-electric cars in Europe in April — up 169 percent over the same month last year — which was enough to just overtake Tesla, which once led Europe’s market but now sits in tenth. Tesla sales of 7,165 are 49 percent down on 2024.

‘The challenge is not the tariff itself, it’s the uncertainty.’

So says Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, arguing the company can “adjust quickly” to tariff changes, but only if it knows “what the end game is.”

Yuanqing estimates tariffs have cost Lenovo more than $15 million, even with exemptions for computers and phones, and says that while the company won’t stop manufacturing in China, it may diversify to become more “resilient.”

Strava doubles down on training plans.

After last month’s acquisition of Runna, mostly to get at its running plans, Strava is repeating the trick in cycling. It just acquired The Breakaway, an iOS biking app with a focus on... AI training plans.

It comes as Strava closes a round of funding that valued the business at $2.2 billion. Yesterday it announced new AI route planning and improvements to its cheat detection.

You can now find Google’s Find Hub.

The Find My Device rebrand announced during last week’s I/O Android Show has rolled out to the Play Store, and with it Google has taken the “beta” tag off the people-tracking half of the app.

If you’re a Moto Tag owner, lower your hopes right now — the promised activation of UWB support still isn’t included, but Google says it’s coming this month.
