The UK’s tech tax isn’t safe yet.

Yesterday’s much-hyped trade deal between the US and UK was all about cars and beef, with no sign of a rumored reduction in the British Digital Services Tax, which bills the biggest tech companies based on their revenue. US negotiators haven’t given up on it though. “That’s a very big deal to President Trump,” said White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, who doesn’t sound like a fan either:

“Digital taxes has spread like a bad virus around the world, but it started in Europe, and it basically targets American companies, I can say it in no other way.”

The UK secures reduced auto tariffs.

As part of the “maxed out” trade deal agreed today between the US and UK, up to 100,000 British cars can be imported into the US every year at the 10 percent baseline tariff rate, rather than the 25 percent rate for vehicles from elsewhere.

Steel and aluminum tariffs have been cut too, along with protections from Trump’s future tariffs on pharmaceuticals. In return, the UK will take more US beef and other agricultural goods.

Am I the only person that didn’t watch the GTA VI trailer?

Apparently, everyone else did. Rockstar Games claims the game’s second trailer racked up 475 million views in just 24 hours, making it “the biggest video launch of all time.” That’s more than the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer’s 365 million debut, and over double the 200 million views for The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ promo.

Despite all that demand, the now-delayed GTA VI is still a year away with its launch scheduled for May 2026.

    A DualSense for the beach.

Sony’s latest limited edition PS5 controller takes its design from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, with an intentionally / annoyingly off-center Drawbridge logo at its heart. Kojima Productions helped with the design apparently, and doesn’t he look proud? Preorders open on May 22nd, ahead of the game’s launch on June 26th.

    Sony still makes phones.

The company is teasing its next launch, presumably the Xperia 1 VII, which it will reveal on May 13th (well, in Japan — it’ll be the evening of May 12th in the US). The teaser shows off a familiar design and some Alpha camera features.

Last’s year’s Xperia 1 VI never launched in the US, and with no US time zones mentioned, a repeat of that looks likely too.
