The US Navy sent an email to sailors warning against using the Chinese startup’s buzzy AI chatbot “in any capacity,” citing “potential security and ethical concerns associated with the model’s origin and usage,” according to a report from CNBC. DeepSeek started limiting user signups on Monday due to “malicious attacks.”
In a statement to Bloomberg, an Nvidia spokesperson said DeepSeek is an “excellent AI advancement” and shows how a company can create new AI models using the test-time scaling method, while “leveraging widely-available models and compute that is fully export control compliant.”
Similar to YouTube, Spotify will give bronze, silver, and gold plaques to podcasters when they reach 100 million, 250 million, and 500 million streams, respectively.
Crime Junkie and The Joe Rogan Experience are the inaugural winners of Spotify’s gold Creator Milestone Award, followed by Dateline NBC and Stuff You Should Know with silver.
Before Google hired away Character.ai’s leadership, both Google and Apple issued warnings to the startup that prompted it to introduce stronger content filters and increase its age rating to 17+ on the App Store, according to a report from The Information.
Character.ai employees also reportedly raised concerns internally about the app’s impact on teen mental health, something it’s currently facing two lawsuits over.
