I’m only about halfway through, but it’s a fascinating look at the rise of one of the now-huge indie game. And it’s a good watch ahead of the game’s next major update, which will bring the game to Nintendo Switch and add multiplayer.

You can register for the Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade beta from now until July 27th on the game’s website. Those who are selected will be able to play from August 3rd through August 11th, according to a news post. 5,000 participants in North America and Western Europe will be a part of the beta.

Why today, of all days? On many platforms, including Apple’s, the Tear-Off Calendar emoji (📆) shows a date of July 17th — which incidentally happens to be iCal’s birthday.

That’s one of the many potential new emoji that could be approved as part of Emoji 15.1 in September. Emojipedia has a great article and some mock images for other draft candidates, including a lime, a broken chain, and two heads shaking in different directions.
