The cuts will affect 210 workers in the company’s Bellevue and Redmond offices and 66 virtual staffers, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) email. The cuts hit customer service, support, and sales, GeekWire reports.
“A group presenting themselves as a collective of religiously and politically motivated hackers has claimed responsibility for the attack,” AO3 said on its status Twitter account.
However, “cybersecurity experts believe the group claiming responsibility is lying about their affiliation and reasons for attacking websites,” it said. “View the group’s statements with skepticism.”
The site currently isn’t loading for me. The status account first reported issues at 8:24AM ET this morning.
That’s based on screenshots shared in the moderator coordination subreddit, including a message from the Reddit admin (employee) account u/ModCodeofConduct.
Meta CTO Andrew “Boz” Bosworth was asked that question in an AMA he held over Instagram Stories on his profile on Thursday evening. His response:
The metaverse term is fine. There’s nothing wrong with the term. It does lack definition because we haven’t given it full definition yet.
He also argued that it’s similar to how people were trying to define the internet in the 90s (and said that the internet is still hard to define).
I don’t completely agree with that characterization — the metaverse feels much more nebulous to me than the internet ever did — but I am curious if the concept of the metaverse eventually goes on to be something more widely understood.
And Boz doesn’t seem worried, saying that “I think new technology is always like this.”
Previously, only brands and Snap Stars could include links in their profiles, according to TechCrunch. Instagram also recently made it easier to link out to other places, letting you add up to five links to your profile.
According to the @threadsapp account, you’ll see both people you follow and accounts the platform recommends to you. Changes are coming down the line: recommendations will be “more personalized” and yes, the Threads team is working on a chronological feed. Search will get better, too.
It’s called, fittingly, Magenta Green Screen, and it can “produce realistic visual effects for film and television in real time,” according to New Scientist. Check it out in action in this short video.
I’m no expert, but this new method does appear to place the actors pretty believably in front of the green screen background.
It could happen through a bill called the Location Shield Act, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. Under the proposed law, services would still be able to collect your location data, but it would largely ban the sale of that data.
