    LinkedIn has been fined over $300 million for violating European privacy rules.

    The ruling was made by the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) following a complaint filed in 2018 that said LinkedIn’s tracking ads business violated GDPR.

    DPC Deputy Commissioner Graham Doyle commented:

    “The lawfulness of processing is a fundamental aspect of data protection law and the processing of personal data without an appropriate legal basis is a clear and serious violation of a data subjects’ fundamental right to data protection.”

    Smart lighting provider Philips Hue is reportedly testing an “AI Playground” that allows users to generate custom light effects with text descriptions, such as “create a scene for a Halloween party.”

    Govee and Nanoleaf already offer a similar feature. We don’t know when Hue’s offering will be available, but it’ll likely be restricted to recommending existing scenes at first, with the capability to create new ones coming later.

    Don’t expect a new Steam Deck to drop each year.

    Valve Steam Deck designer Lawrence Yang set some release timeline expectations in an interview with Reviews.org:

    “We’re not going to do a bump every year. There’s no reason to do that. And, honestly, from our perspective, that’s kind of not really fair to your customers to come out with something so soon that’s only incrementally better. So we really do want to wait for a generational leap in compute without sacrificing battery life before we ship the real second generation of Steam Deck.”

    That checks out given we already knew a next-gen Steam Deck might not arrive before 2026.
